Results !!!!!

So my 60 Day Personal fitness challenge is officially over.  Firstly I'd like to say a quick couple of thank you's. 1st and foremost I'd like to thank Gemma (Partner and mother of my gorgeous wee Boy).  She spends all day looking after our son and then when I come home she still encourages me to do my training. When I don't feel like it, she gets on my back and tells me to get my finger out.  She has helped so much with my diet and shopping for new food and different ideas on how to eat more clean.  Throughout the whole challenge she has been a massive support and the challenge would have been a lot harder without her. 2nd I'd like to thank Brian Milligan who is my trainer from BM Fitness in Troon.  Now, when I get something into my head I can become pretty obsessed and I'm sure to Brian I have been a complete pain in the arse with all my Text and Facebook messages outwith working hours.  He's been very patient with me and for that I am thankful.  He has also been the backbone behind my training and dieting.  Together, we came up with a manageable diet plan and from his classes I managed to devise some of my own 'mini workouts at home' and he has also sent me over some workouts to keep variation in my training.  His 'No Bullshit' approach to training and dieting is unrivalled in my eyes so take advantage of his welalth of knowledge like i have.  Last but by no means least, you guys, who have read my blog and helped motivate me through the full 60 days.  I'm going on like iv just won an Oscar but for me i have acheived 10 times more than my highest expectations.  Iv had over 3000 views on my blog since day one and to see that and hear all the positive comments it really has helped a lot so Thank You All!

I hope it doesn't sound like I'm blowing my own trumpet.  I would hate for it to have come across in this way but in doing this blog and keeping my updates on Facebook it has been a pressure in the back of my head that 'I Can't Fail'!!  Also just want to say that if I can do this then so can anyone.  This challenge has cemented a new lifestyle for me.  I am eating clean all the time and loving it.  I'm also really enjoying my training and excited about, for the 1st time EVER, achieving my long term goal of getting my Bodyfat under 10% and trying to maintain that.  Its going to sound pretty vain, but every guy wants a 6 pack and im no exception.  It is within touching distance now!

So I'm going to spare you the pish talk and get onto the all important results. Below, I have added 3 picture. 2 before and after picture (1 with a slightly less 'I Want to Die' face) and my before and after measurements. The results speak for themselves.  Eat clean and train hard and I guarantee you will achieve your goals.  Also it's got to be said....Listen to your trainer!!!  I have listened to all of Brian's advice throughout this challenge and in doing so I have made healthy changes and dropped the 'Chest and Biceps' workouts in aid of a full body beasting.

So that's pretty much it from me.  I won't be blogging any more but I will be continuing my personal challenge.  The 60 days ended yesterday but I am already onto my next challenge in trying to get my bodyfat under 10%.  My skinfold bodyfat was 13/14% and on the scales it was 16%.  I am going to go for the scales reading and track my bodyfat each week on that. Most of you will continue to see me litter your Facebook news feeds with how I'm getting on so you can keep updated that way!

Peace out people and thank you again!

DAY 51

My 60 Day Challenge is nearly over. By 'over' i mean my current challenge is over. Without sounding like (As Big Gilbert would call it) a Homo, this is just the beginning. So far, i have managed to create my own diet and training plans. As previously stated, i have been training with Brian Milligan @ Bm Fitness. It is only fair that i give this guy as much praise as possible. Any time i have needed him for nutritional advice or for training techniques he has been there. His Varied and wide range of hardcore classes have kept me more than interested in continuing, and so far, acheiving more than i could ever have imagined. I can remember my 1st class with Brian as if it were yesterday. Turned up myself, not knowing anyone or what to expect. Everyone in the class was welcoming and Brian made me feel like part of the team straight away. Until that point i had never been to any 'Fitness Classes' so i was quite scared and optomistic at the same time. The 2 days after my 1st class were horrific. The pain i was in was unreal. At that point i never wanted to see the guy again. That being said, the next week i was back at the gym and enjoying it more as i knew people and was pushing harder. I would encourage anyone to go to his classes. Not only for the classes themselves but also for the knowledge they give you to train at home and make your own workouts. Classes are only £4 and with monthly challenges to get involved in there are really no excuses not to be shredding the fat........apart from a shite diet that is but once again, Brian can sort you out with all the info you need on this and with his new service he will even take you shopping and show you what to buy and what to avoid. Get in touch with him for more info on pricing etc. Don't get much better than that!

For the last 5 or 6 years ive been juggling between all of the popular diets. Ive maybe lost a stone or 2 but then once i go back to eating normal it seems to all 'Magically' appear again. Ok, not quite but you get the picture. This time ive lost weight but also shredded fat more than ever before. Ive never been as lean as i am now. Brian has written me out a 7 day diet plan and im going to stick to that for the last 7 days of my challenge and after. Its very similar to the diet ive been on but far more variation with each day being different. Going to have to go right out my comfort zone and eat crazy food like cold salmon and nuts! Haha! Obviously not going to see dramatic improvements with just 1 week but this diet is more for after my 60 day challenge ends and i go onto try and get my abs through. I think no matter what any guy tells you, we all want a rock hard set of shredded abs. Yes, its vain when you hear it said like that but who wouldnt want to walk down a beach on holiday and have a 6 pack shining in the sun instead of a bulging beer belly and love handles that you can use as a wind block when it starts to get cold.

Thankfully, i am now at point where im not really bothered about what i weigh. Iv not officially check my bodyfat with Brian since my challenge started but we will check all measurements on Tuesday 5th march.

DAY 46

Iv not posted in my blog for a few weeks now and the only reason I can think of is laziness. In saying that, iv been sticking to my clean eating and training hard too. The diet is getting easier and I'm now training because I want to and not because I have to.

With only 2 weeks of my challenge left I'm going to talk to Brian and see what we can do in the last 7/10 days to get a final shred before my challenge is over. I'm not going to stop when my challenge ends, if anything I'll be at a point where I can finally concentrate on get my abs through but it's still going to be a long journey.

DAY 33

So iv not been posting on my blog every day. It's difficult to find time when iv got to fit my training in and spending time with the family.

On Friday, the BM Fitness 3000 February Burpee Challenge started. I did 400 on Friday, 241 on Saturday at thee hardest class I have ever been to in my life and then another 110 on Sunday morning in a very sore bootcamp session. Iv been training consistently for 30 days. Whether its cardio or weights resistance and up until now I have managed to avoid being in extreme pain. Iv been very sore, a lot of the time, but nothing compared to what I felt on Sunday. This was excruciating! 2 days of intense Burpees and my body throws me the middle finger and floors me. I was looking forward to my Sunday bootcamp but when I got there I just couldn't enjoy it because of the pain. My left hamstring was soooo tight. I managed to get through the class but it was a struggle and couldn't put 100% in. Thankfully today I am feeling better. I was going to have a rest day but I was nearly climbing the walls at the prospect of not getting any training in at all so I rattled out a beast of a weights workout just missing out straight leg Deadlifts and KB Swings as to minimise any possible hamstring damage. It was a gr8 session but weird at the same time. 90% of my at home kettlebells or weights workouts revolve around my legs. As Brian has taught me in the past (Work the biggest muscle groups to maximise the fat burn). Im not going to get massive legs but if i work them hard, they are gonna need a lot of fuel to repair, this resulting in maximum calorie burn even when I'm not in the gym! Since I started going to Brian's gym around 4/5 months ago my outlook on training was very limited. By that I mean, I would turn up to the gym, run on the treadmill for 10 mins then go and fire out a bicep and chest workout. Haha! For anyone that went to Brian's seminar on Weights Resistance Training you will now know that I was the guy that Brian was talking about. In fairness, no1 ever told me any different. I would never be advised on a workout plan or any nutritional advice so how was I meant to know? Well now, I don't leave the gym (my spare room) until I have nothing left. I mean walking out, head spinning, feeling the blood pumping through my veins covered in sweat from head to toe! I owe Brian a lot for educating my mind into training the hardest I ever have. I love interval training! You can't get bored, it's impossible!! 40 secs work at 150% with a short rest. Simple, yet hugely effective. I know I always say it, but if you haven't been to any if Brian's classes.....DO IT!! I am currently the lightest and most lean I have been since around 10 years ago when Gemma and I got together.

In the past I have tried all these 'Fool Proof' diets. Set myself a realistic goal and then after 3 or 4 weeks, loss a stone without training and before I know it, we are a month down the line and its back on again. Not this time!!! I feel my body has completely changed. The bit under my stomach (kinda belt line) is solid right round my waist. My shoulders feel solid all round and my back is tight. My man boobs have totally gone. It feels so weird!! My arms are also looking far more toned. Legs feel solid and my head only has one chin! BONUS! I us2 look in the mirror and think, iv got to do something about this and never would. It got so bad that whenever Gemma would touch my stomach I'd go crazy because I was so embarrassed about it. If I had a scalpel, I now feel like I could cut the fat from my stomach and sides and BOOM!!!! Beach body!!!! Hahaha! Not quite but we are getting there!!! Sorry for the huge blog post! That's what it's for though!!

Kettlebells tomorrow! Bring it!!!!!

DAY 30

Today is the half way point of my 60 day challenge. I'm happy with my progress so far and finding each day easier. 15 lbs in total!

I think I am addicted to training though. I can't seem to stop. I want to train all the time. The 3000 February Burpee challenge started today and I managed to fire out 400 of the bad boys.

A lot of people noticing iv lost weight but I need to get my body fat checked again. All in all things are good!

Bring on the next 30 days!!!!

DAY 27

Short and sweet tonight! I'm playing at a wedding band showcase so not got time.

Diet today was easy. Finding keeping under my 1600 calories easy and with putting my carbs up just that small amount I can feel a difference in my energy levels.

Tonight's training was very short but still hard with burpees and push ups done using the pyramid style workout. 10 burpees/10 push ups - 9 burpees/9 push ups. So on and so on! Going to do that again when I get home to get me to 110 of each.

Today's diet below.....

Monday, 28 January 2013

DAY 26

Today has been great! Diet has been pretty easy as iv put my carbs up to be 40/40 with my protein. Still a very lean diet but needing the extra energy for the extra training iv been doing. Tonight's training with my mate Ince started with a 1.2 mile run from my house to KG5 football park. We then fired out 2 sets of

Push Ups
Jump Squats
Bear Crawls
Crab Crawls
Inchworms (Found these online)
Burpees into Chin up
Power Jacks
Tricep Dips
Hill Climbs
Pull Ups

Then we ran the 1.2 miles back home. Now shaking like a shitting dog! The 1st run was right into the wind as well so pretty tough.

Currently sitting with my boy on my knee sleeping, just about to go get dinner. Well and truly back ON IT!!!!

Today's diet below.....

DAY 25

Today has been good. The day started with Bm Fitness bootcamp! It was chucking it down, freezing and very windy but we got on with it. I was 5 mins late so had a punishment of 20 burpees! All very good fun! Great way to start my day!

No diet plan for today. I stuck to the structure of the diet but went out for dinner and relaxed a little. Didn't go mental but it's good to know you're still a human. We all need that luxury every now and then.

Iv decided to tweak the diet just a little. As iv been training far more, sometimes twice a day, iv been really struggling with energy so I am going to up my carbs by 10% to 40% protein, 40% carbs, 20% fat. This will also give me far more flexibility with regards to meals. I'll still be sticking under my 1600 calories but I recon this is a good decision and will help with my training.

DAY 24

Miles over my carbs today but was impossible not too. Stayed well under my calories for the day so no damage done. Was just an extremely busy day. Bootcamp in the morning.

Today's diet below.....

DAY 23

Great day! Sorted my meals out and didn't struggle at all. Makes a difference to plan ahead. Doesn't even take that long!

Training tonight was quite fun. 2 mates (Gilbert and Ince) joined me for a kettlebells session. We went to KG5 football pitches and ran round it twice then carried out a kettlebells workout with shuttle runs in between each exercise. Went through the circuit twice and was absolutely burst! Haha! That's what it's all about! Recon the boys enjoyed it too so we are going to get together at least once a week and swing some bells. Looking forward to getting an absolute beasting on Sunday morning for Brian's BM Fitness Bootcamp. Always guaranteed a top class workout with that man at the wheel! Anyone is welcome so if you fancy it, get it touch with him or myself and I'll speak to him and get you booked in. 9:30am Sunday morning.

Today's diet below and the workout we did is there as well.

Happy Days......

DAY 22

Today I am going to refer back to the beginning of my challenge. I spoke of how with taking on this diet, one of the key factors I was going to have to adopt would be preparation. Well today, I didn't prepare enough and guess what, I made an arse of it. When you look at the picture below, you will see that I am well under my 1600 calorie day allowance. However, I am not counting calories, I am count HOW I take in my calories. Protein, Carbs, Fat!! You get the picture! Today I am well over my fat and well over my carbs. This isn't too bad but with regards to how I am tackling this diet, it's not good. I'm not going to be too hard on myself, I'm just going to knuckle down and stop just thinking 'aw it will be cool, I'll be fine'. I won't be fine!!!! Today I have been hungry ALL DAY!!! I have been taking a supplement called 'Chromium Picolinate' Basically it helps my body balance sugar levels when I'm on a strict diet. Well iv not taken them for 3 days running and did I notice that today! All I wanted was 10 mars bars, 3 lion bars, a crunchie and 2 boost! I managed to not have any but I can't feel like that again so I need to be strict.

Weight loss this week after my night out was poor. -1 lb! I have lost 1 stone in 3 weeks so that's good I suppose! Backing it tomorrow!

Today's diet below........

Wednesday, 23 January 2013

DAY 21

Not much for saying today really. Diet has been fine and I did the 300 workout at lunch and just been out a run. My lunch time workout only lasts about 25/30 mins but its very intense so defo feel the burn from that. Im trying to up my cardio running/rowing etc. Got my official weigh in tomorrow morning. Not as excited about this one purely because I had that night out on Saturday and when I weighed myself on the Monday it had done some damage but when I weighed myself yesterday I was 201lbs so hopefully get at least 1 off from that but we'll soon see.

Today's diet below.......

Tuesday, 22 January 2013

DAY 20

So that's 20 days down, 40 days to go! Delighted with the way thing are going but it's time to turn it up a notch. I'm training harder than I ever have so I'm going to set myself a target for the remaining 40 days. The challenge is simple.....Get to 180lbs!!! I'm currently sitting at 201lbs so that will be a loss of 21lbs in 40 days. Averaging roughly 4lbs per week. So far iv been hitting great numbers but I know that as my challenge goes on, the weight loss will slow down. I won't be changing anything as far as dieting but will be putting even more effort in in the gym and will be training for 30 mins during my lunch break as well. Will be trying to go 2 runs per week as well.

Training today was a 30 min weights workout @ lunch time and a circuits class at BM Fitness.

Today's diet below......

Monday, 21 January 2013

DAY 19

Today I have trained like a man possessed! 6am Circuits class at BM Fitness, 300 workout on my lunch break at work and a 3 mile run tonight which i ran in 27 mins. The fastest iv ever ran that distance but my mate Ince was there to pile on the pressure so I had to try my best and keep up with him. If I loss anything at all this week I'll be happy. My plans for tomorrow are to have a weights workout on my lunch break and then I'll be at Circuits at night.

So many nice comments over the weekend with regards to how I look and how far iv come so far. When you have people in your ear saying positive things it makes not eating the rest of those wine gums so much easier. I still enjoy the 60 Gay Challenge banter though. Starting to really feel positive changes in my body. The bottom of my stomach is the most toned its ever been and for once I can actually feel solid abs. Don't get me wrong, iv got a long way to go before they are through but I know I am chipping away at that 'now small' layer of fat that is covering them. It's just as much down to diet as it is training so I know what I need to be doing. With the only one night that worried me now past, I can concentrate on shredding this fat and being in the best shape of my life.

Today's diet below.....

Sunday, 20 January 2013

DAY 18

FAIL!!! That is the only word to sum up how I feel today! I recon that the damage I did last night and today will amount to 3 days hard training and hard dieting. Not only is this annoying for obvious reasons, I feel like shit. Got the worst hang over EVER!!! I felt better after survival of the fittest last year. The night was a good laugh but it's not worth feeling like this. I knew I was gonna end up really drunk as I never go out anymore and nearly never drink. I recon to get back on track, I'm going to need to train twice a day this week just to break even. 1 cardio session and maybe a weights resistance workout. I wasn't drinking pints but the vodkas went down far too quickly and far too easily.

Once I shake this hangover off I'll get up and back on it tomorrow. I until then, I'm going back to bed!!!

Saturday, 19 January 2013

DAY 17

I'm doing my blog just now because I'm going out tonight and won't get a chance later. Looking forward to my night out and I'm not gonna let the diet weigh on my mind too much. Won't be drinking pints all night either because that's just asking for trouble. I had a Turkish delight at lunch and felt guilty as soon as I'd eaten it but that's only because iv been so strict. Surely one night off won't kill me as long as I don't go mental!

Workout for today was 20/20/20 class at Bm Fitness. A mixture of circuit training, cardio and kettlebell work. Really enjoyed it and received an absolute beasting. Tomorrows blog will hopefully be fine and I won't be talking of any horror stories.

Today's diet below.......Clearly not including my drink!

Friday, 18 January 2013

DAY 16

Day 16 polished off! Not a lot for saying tonight. I trained in the car park at my work tonight. A good intense kettlebell cardio session. Each station had 2 shuttle runs in between so nice to get some running in. Was also good to a get my boss through his 1st kettlebell session. hopefully that may continue. It's the start of another weekend and tomorrow night will be my 1st challenge with regards dieting. Got a night out with the boys so it will be damage limitation with the drinking. I'll stick to the vodka diet coke and I'm sure I'll be fine. I will always have the challenge in my head anyway so that will probably rule my night.

Today's diet below.......

Thursday, 17 January 2013

DAY 15

That's me 1/4 of the way through my challenge. As hard as its been its also been good to get back into my hard training and eating right. The diet is beginning to become second nature. Don't get me wrong, I still need to scan and check everything before I eat it but I now have a better knowledge of what I can and can't eat. The chocolate orange sitting in my work is unfortunately not one of them. You will probably notice that for the last 2 days my fat has been over. Not by much but it's been over. Anyway, this I can only assume is due to my egg yokes. I don't eat many yokes but they mount up over the day. It's something that I have noted and intend on finding other ways to get my protein without eating food that tastes like a dogs arse! Which my unflavoured protein tastes like. Never buy unflavoured protein even if it does have a 100% pure protein content. Picture self raising flour, adding water then drinking it!!! Nae Need!!!! You will also notice that I have plenty of carbs and nearly no protein remaining. This is my plan, low carb and high protein. Over the weekend I'll also be having a look at my food at work. Tomorrow will be my 5th day running having the same thing and its starting to get boring so a wee shake up for next week should keep my attention on the job in hand.

Tonight's training was a circuits class at BM Fitness. Always guaranteed to get an absolute beasting and was good to have Brian on my back at any point when I started to fatigue. I want to walk away from every session like I did tonight.

Last but not least......The weigh In!!! As most people will already have heard, I lost another 6lbs. Another great number but this week was always going to be an annoying weigh in. To start, I was a little gutted that I missed out on 14lbs in 14 days by 1lb. I spent half of the morning wondering where I lost that pound but 6lbs in 7 days is still a pretty damn good achievement. If I do say so myself! ;-) This weigh in brings my current weight to 202lbs or 14st 6lbs. Now, there are 2 things I am pushing for this week. 1st off, I WILL get under that 200lb mark. I have a night out on Saturday but I know I can get through that with minimal damage. 2nd, I want my next weigh in to take me under 14st mark. This will mean I will need to loss a minimum of 7lbs. It's a lot to ask but I'm going to knuckle down and make that my weekly goal. Im going to try and up my cardio as well as still keeping up the high fat burn kettlebell work i have been doing. Today, I had 4 separate people comment on my weight loss without me mention it. It's the small comments like this that make it easier to keep going and the encouragement I have been getting from guys at the gym and family is really good to have behind me.
Diet for today is below....

Wednesday, 16 January 2013

DAY 14

2 weeks polished off and not one cheat meal. Not one day of not giving my training and dieting 110%. Couldn't have done it without Gemma for helping with all my food, putting up with my moods and giving me pelters if I slack when I'm training. Also, Brian for the knowledge his classes and PT session have given me plus the countless messages iv sent him regarding my nutrition and training techniques. I'm going on like I'm at the end and I'm not even half way there. It has been hard, very hard but that is gonna make the reward at the end so much sweeter. Iv always said to myself 'You'll defo have a 6 pack ONE DAY'. Looking back on that now I just think, how the hell was that ever going to happen by just sitting on my hoop looking at magazines and thinking about my next dieting failure. It nearly pisses me off that iv waited so long to be this strict about my dieting. Get an actual grip! Haha!

As i mentioned before, I lost weight doing a 60 day challenge last year. When I look back at that now, I want to slap myself. Not for neglecting my training because I was doing that 6 days a week but by the way I was so flippant about my diet and nutrition. I was nearly in the mind set that if I was to loss 2lbs a week, that would do then that would free up my weekends to eat that little bit more freely! Not this time! I'll be raging if I'm not losing 4+ lbs per week.

Iv got my 2nd official weigh in tomorrow morning and I can't wait. I will obviously be nervous like last week but I know that I will be seeing decent numbers again. Tomorrows blog will have all the details and I'll say to Brian about checking my body fat again and see what he says.

Tonight's training was 10 mins on the rowing machine and a weights training session. Enjoyed it and was good to get a full body workout and a bit of cardio. Looking forward to circuits tomorrow night. I'm hoping for an absolute beasting and in pretty sure Brian will deliver a class to suit!! Today's diet below.

Until tomorrow......

Tuesday, 15 January 2013

DAY 13

Another day and not a lot different from other days as far as dieting goes. Finding the diet easier each day. As each day goes by, I find myself using less of my allocated carbs and more of my protein allowance. You will notice that today, I only have 20g of protein left for today but have 66g of carbs left. To me, that's exactly what I want. Tomorrow at work will be very similar to today with eating so easy enough there.

So, training....... This next quote is no exaggeration!!!! Circuits tonight was quite possibly the most insane 45 mins of my life. I'll explain! It was not just carry out 1 station, then move on to the next. This was 1 station, then a set of burpees, then the same station again, and another set of burpees.....then you could move on to the next station! 16 different station this went on for!!! Unreal physical pain....however, I loved every second. Ok, not every second but I gave it my all and to have Brian in your ear pushing you just makes you want to push yourself to the absolute limits. When I got to class, I felt like shit! I thought it was due to my low carbs diet but Brian soon reminded me it was probably in and my head and to man up! He didn't exactly say that but I knew he meant it. That's what I love about this gym. You are there to train and not just get through the class. Talk at the end! Haha! Tomorrow I'll probably jump on the rower for 30 mins then do some weights. Thursday morning weigh in just round the corner. Can't remember the last diet I was on that I actually looked forward to my weigh in! Bring it!!!! Summer 6 pack well in sight!

Until next time..... (Today's diet below)

Monday, 14 January 2013

DAY 12

So I'm well into week 2 now and getting use to the whole process of weighing my food, cooking it the correct way and checking it into my diary. When you get into it, it's actually pretty easy. For a diet as strict as this, you need to know your food and what you're eating, if you don't you're basically screwed. I don't think I'm a genius but before taking on this diet I spent weeks online looking up different ways to attack it and different meal ideas. For anyone that know me, they will know that when it comes to food I don't like all that crazy, blow the hole off you curry and mega spicy foods so simple things that taste nice are good enough for me. Iv been seasoning like mad which is new for me. I use to go crazy with the salt but that had to come to an end for more reasons than one. I feel like I'm repeating myself every day but each day the diet gets more manageable. Watch this space, tomorrow I'll be on saying that all I could think about was chocolate. Haha. Diets aren't meant to be easy. Iv got myself into this situation so iv got to deal with it but I guarantee you this, the rewards at the end will make every last second of pain in the gym and missed carbs worth it.

Training today started off very hard. Was pretty tired and couldn't be arsed at all. I grabbed my kettlebells and got my 300 workout in front of me. I thought about just going and lying on the couch but I knew at that point if I did, I would now be regretting it and I don't think Gemma or my neighbours would appreciate a set of 11pm Burpees. I did complete the workout and then rewarded myself with steak for dinner. Today's diet below and a picture of my low carb dinner.

So I keep going on about Brian who owns BM Fitness. Well as you can imagine, the guy is pretty fit. On top of the 15+ classes he runs and numerous personal training sessions he also plays football. He is sitting with a body fat of 8.9% and has set himself a 4 week challenge to bring that down by 2%. You can follow his blog by clicking the link below. I'm looking forward to seeing the diet and training schedule that he will be following.

DAY 11

Not much for saying today and iv got little time. I ate clean and trained hard. Standard!!! My fat was a little over today as I used to many egg yokes. Omelette had 2 and used 1 in my rice later. Got all my meals planned out for the rest of the week so no need to be slipping up. I couldn't help myself this morning and nosiness got the better of me and I jumped on the scales. Another 2lbs off since Thursday. That's 9lbs lost in 10 days. I have been training and eating really well so I should be seeing results like that. I don't expect to be losing 7lbs per week. Even if my weight loss went down to 4lbs a week, that would still have me losing 30lbs in my 60 day challenge taking me down to 12st 12lbs. Can't grumble at that to be honest. Last time I was under 13st was over 11 years ago! Feel like iv tried every diet under the sun but this time it feels different. iv got Gemma shadowing my diet this week as well so will be good to have someone else in the same position. Iv got a night out planned for next Saturday so it will be vodka diet coke for me to minimise the damage. Did a weights workout this afternoon which I really enjoyed. Days diet is below!

DAY 10

There's another Saturday polished off. Easy one today. Didn't have any carbs till dinner so I could give myself a wee treat. Making dinner tonight for a wee night in with this Mrs so this will be short and sweet.

Weights workout today. Took the things that iv learnt from classes at BM Fitness and made my own wee all over body workout. I also made another workout similar to the bootcamp that BM Fitness ran last year and is running again from next weekend. I'll give it a shop tomorrow and if its any good ill post in up. Plenty of cardio in this one which is what I need right now.

A lot of people have been in touch this week regarding my diet. So below is a copy of my 'Shopping List'. This is all the stuff that I purchased before my challenge started and will be restocking tomorrow. My blog tomorrow night will include another shopping list but this one will have a price per meal. For example - 5 egg whites and 1 whole egg (omelette) £1.65. There's your breakfast! Hopefully this can help people follow the diet or a similar style diet next week. If you then want to break the shopping list down into meals you can look at my previous blogs for meal plans or get in touch and I'll send them over.

DAY 9

Day 9 out the way! Not much for saying today. Woke up this morning and felt skinny which was pretty strange. I am by no means skinny but i'm at a weight just now that iv not seen in years. Feel pretty drained but when you see the lack of carbs in today's diet you can imagine why. Did my weights training session with Simo (Wee Brother). Working tomorrow morning so I'll get my training done after that then spending the night with the Mrs so the blog will be up earlier tomorrow. My calories are over 500 below my daily allowance but iv totally cut my carbs and upped my protein.

Anyway, I'm for my bed! Until tomorrow!
Today's diet below as usually!

DAY 8

For those of you that don't already know (there can't be many of you because iv spoken about nothing else all day) I lost 7lbs in my 1st 7 days on the shredder diet. Couldn't be happier with that result. Makes all the hard work, training sessions and carb deprived meals well worth it.

So last night I had a major sweet craving. Messaged Brian and we got chatting and he gave me few new ideals and tips. If you read yesterday's blog, you will know that I was left with literally no carbs to play with last night so it was back to the drawing board. Brian suggested omelette for breakfast. 5 egg whites and 1 whole egg! No carbs at all instead if the 50g Special K and my porridge took. So we are now on the eggs! I should probably take this opportunity to apologies to anyone that feels my wrath after eating so many eggs! :-/

Training tonight was circuits with Brian and the troops @ BM Fitness. Good solid class! With previous diets, iv 'dieted' for 7 days then had a cheat meal. I don't even want a cheat meal today. It would probably send me back a few steps in my head but I did have a bit of steak that would probably have been the same size as the ice berg that sunk the titanic. This thing was a beast! Below is a picture of my steak and my diet for today! Happy times!

DAY 7

Today I learnt that everything on the planet has carbs. If I was to take a bite out of one of my kettlebells, there would probably be carbs attached! (Not quite but i'm sure some people can relate to what i mean). This is extremely frustrating for me! In saying this, I may just need to tweak my daily diet to allow me to have certain things at certain times. For example, my breakfast takes nearly 40g of carbs then you add milk and it goes to 50g. That is nearly half of my daily allowance. Tomorrow I'm going to take an hour and try find a lower carb option. ****So I asked Brian about this issue and he suggests an egg white omelette. Brilliant!**** Yesterday I was doing a bit of mucking about and found that swapping my mince (which I love) for a packet of John West Tuna Fillet for lunch, which has Sweet Thai seasoning, I drop 10g of fat from that 1 meal. It's a no brained really! Tonight iv kinda struggled with the diet, only because I had no carbs to play with. Felt like I needed something sweet but as I had no carbs left, I had to settle for 3 boiled eggs with soft light cheese and some cold chicken. Seemed to do the trick. It's a total re education of food I'm going through. Sometimes I find food that I love and wonder why it's taken me so long to find it, then other times I want to go crazy because it can be so restricting. All in all, I'm in a good place and looking forward to getting my claws into week 2.

So it's the night of my 7th day and tomorrow morning I have my 1st weigh in. I'm really looking forward to it but at the same time, I'm nervous that I'm not happy with the results. Iv put everything iv got into this. Its taken extreme dedication and a barrell load of will power but as iv kept to my under 1600 calories and iv trained everyday I'll be guaranteed to see some results!!!! Right??? If you read this, you'll find out tomorrow! Today's diet below!

DAY 6

Not much to say today. I ate clean and trained hard! Circuits class @ BM Fitness. Nice to see the class busy and also good to have Big Gilbert and Kev to share the pain with me. Tomorrow is day 7 of 60 and I'm looking forward to my 1st weigh in. This is the 1st diet and training iv done that didn't start on a Monday and that I haven't cheated on at all! Hopefully this is a good Oman for the rest of the challenge. Today's diet below!

DAY 5

Today's diet was pretty similar to previous days as you will see below. For me it's all down to minimising carbs and upping my protein. I'll be honest, I'm glad today is over. Got home from work and was burst. Felt like I had no energy and just wanted to go to bed. One of the thing I'm determined to stick to is that no matter what, iv got to get a sweat on everyday. So tonight i decided to go out a run. FAIL!!!! I HATE running. Not because its cardio, just because its boring! I get no pleasure from it but do appreciate that it's a very good way of burning fat and improving fitness. So I did it. I'm sure it will get better so ill stick at it. Drop me on the rowing machine any day!! So I went out a 20 min run. Tomorrow I'm at BM Fitness circuits class. Looking forward to it as iv got a couple of mates coming along. Still very much on track and looking forward to my 1st weigh in on Thursday morning.

DAY 4

We are at the end of Day 4. Diet going well, training going well and i recon I'm back in 'The Zone'. It sounds stupid but there is a head space that you need to be in to follow a diet like this. Well I need to be in a certain place anyway. For years my diet has always revolved around carbs, and 9/10 they would be bad carbs. I won't lie, it's hard staying away from the white pasta and bread especially when it has been the focal point of my diet for many years. I'm going to try something new with my diet this week. At work, i usually have my chicken breast with carrot and broccoli and for dinner I would have lean mince with brown rice but this week I am going to swap the 2 meals around. Purely so that I am getting the full effect of the slow release carbs in the rice and at night lowering my carb intake as much as possible. Below is a copy of today's diet. No protein shake but plenty of steak including steak for breakfast. Beats a roll and bacon any day!

Training for today was a weights workout that iv made from sessions with Brian at BM Fitness. I love doing the weights workouts purely because I get the full body burn including working my biceps which is my favourite muscle group to train. Iv put a copy of that workout below as well.

DAY 3

I'm posting today's blog earlier tonight because iv got a gig and won't have time later. Today's dieting has been a bit more difficult. When I'm at work, I have my usual set times when I eat and get my break but when it's the weekend and I'm at home things don't fall into place as easily. In saying that, I have stuck to the diet 100% and also got some kettlebell and cardio training in. Usually my Saturdays would consist on putting a coupon on and eating pasta until I felt sick so you can imagine that today had been a bit of a shock to the system.

I did the 300 Workout today again. Felt the burn a lot the last time and today was no different. My butt cheeks are now in agony tho. That's surely got to be a good thing. I also got a little cardio in with 10 mins on the rowing machine. Brian had given me a loan of his rower from the gym so there is now no reason to avoid cardio apart from the hurricane sound it will create for my down stairs neighbours. Wedding gig tonight in New Cumnock. Weddings, as we all know have buffets at the half time break. These can be anything from a sandwich spread to chips and bacon rolls. I won't be going near the buffet tonight. I'll have a protein shake with soya light milk and that will do. Hopefully get some more training in tomorrow. Will probably do Brian's weights workout which is set around 2 sets of 40 sec intervals and a final set at 20sec. This works every muscle group so should keep my attention just nicely. Below is a copy of my diet for the day and a picture of the lunch I had. It was bloody gorgeous! The seasoning is Peri Peri lemon and herb incase anyone is interested!

Bring on the 6 pack!

DAY 2

Today was not a lot different from yesterday.  Got up for work and followed the exact same diet as Day 1.  Yes, this would get very boring but i plan to change it every other day.  If i have a set diet for each day, ill know where i am and won't feel tempted to stray.  Im not going to unload a picture of today's eating as for reference you can use the one above.

Today's training was very intense.  Since my 1st class with Brian at BM Fitness my whole outlook on training has completely changed.  I remember dragging myself off the couch and when finally getting to the gym, i would only work the muscle groups that i enjoyed  Even at that i would be bored after the 1st set and find myself sitting at the end of the bench playing on my phone.  Not anymore!  The majority, if not all, of the BM Fitness classes are centered around interval work.  I hadnt done this type of training before but it really is a no brainer.  30 to 40 seconds of 150% effort.  Then onto the next station which would be a different exersize.  You dont get a chance to be bored.  I have recently taken a big interest in all forms of training and came across The 300 Workout.  So i had a wee think about it and scribbled down what i thought would be a good workout.  I sent it over to Brian and after a few tweeks we were good to go.

My fitness levels at present are probably average to good but no where near where i was before the xmas/new year break.  In November my partner gave birth to a beautiful wee boy.  That doesnt half turn your world unside down but now that we are all settled in and finding our own wee routine, i am able to work with Gemma in trying to find time to train that isnt going to mean im away all the time.  All my training revolves around him now so it will be a case of a 'Kettlebell Lunch Break' for me every now and then.  This workout took me around 20 mins to complete and i broke it down into 2 sets by halfing each exersize.  Carried out all the exersizes using my 20kg Kettlebell apart from the Clean and Press and Bent Over Row.  I recommend you give it a blast.

Last thing for tonight.  I am going to regularly post links to the BM Fitness facebook page and to Brian's own blog.  Very interesting read on his blog with regular tips and nutritional advice.  If you havent already, go like the facebook page and get your arse along to a few classes.

Saturday tomorrow, big BIG test when it comes to my diet.  Here we go!!!

Until tomorrow......

DAY 1

After a very pleasant xmas and new year i was more than ready to get stuck in about this challenge.  Its a challenge i have set myself but im also getting nutrition advice and all my training techniques from Brian Milligan @ BM Fitness in Troon.  This is the gym that i will be training at through out my challenge along with several at home workouts designed by Brian.  Im not gonna go on to much, just want to say how im feeling, exactly what i have eaten and how i have trained.

I started off the day by doing the dreaded weigh in.  After my last 60 day challenge which i took part in through BM Fitness, i lost 2 stone.  Couldnt have been happier with those results and managed to get from a 38" Waist to a 34".  This challenge feels different.  I am planning every meal down to the last gram of carbs.  I will be tracking this using the iphone app MyFitnessPal.  Ill be training at BM Fitness and at home like a freak to try and acheive the maximum i can from this challenge.  So here are the all important figured.

Starting Weight       -       215lbs
Starting Bodyfat      -       24.%
Upper Arm              -       38cm
Forearm                   -       32cm
Waist                       -       103cm
Hip                          -       109cm
Thigh                      -        65cm
Calf                         -        43cm

Its now 10pm and i feel great.  Arrived home from a 45min high intensity circuits class @ BM Fitness.  I put everything i had into it and plan on doing that with every training session.  I feel like iv accomplished more today with regards to knowing where i am with my diet than i ever have in any diet iv done before.  Below is a screen dump of what i have eaten today.  Future posts will be far shorter than this but im going to try my best to put at least my diet and training on each day.
Until tomorrow...............
